film review – White House Down

Were you disappointed by A Good Day To Die Hard? Then White House Down is the movie for you. It’s a film that sticks closely to the Die Hard formula, but somehow it still feels fresh. The cast’s mainly responsible for this feat: actors Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx visibly have fun walking the fine line between drama and comedy, which is a requirement for a movie about one man fighting off a terrorist group invading the White House. A similar simple story, combined with a charismatic main character and a strong lead, was key to the succes of the first Die Hard film, and here it works yet again. Additionally director Roland Emmerich makes sure there’s no dull moment in the film: there are plenty moving parts and the scenes never last too long. The result is a tasty no-nonsense action movie, a case of dumb fun, but sometimes that’s all you need. 6/10
